Things have evolved much in India. When i came Delhi 6 years back, we used to hop for movie tickets from one PVR saket to Priya to Chankya on evenings. PVR used to provide online booking but it was not that popular. This have changed a lot. Number of cinemas have increased significantly along with its booking systems. Now almost all popular cinema chains have online ticket booking system.
I am trying to list down all the websites run by cinema chains. You need to pay few bucks extra for online booking but it helps in planning your time better.
1. PVR Cinemas: PVR has cinemas in Bangalore, Chandigarh,Gujarat, Hyderabad, Maharashtra, MP , NCR, Punjab (Ludhiana) and UP (Lucknow). Go through the FAQ section on website for more details about online ticket booking. You can also choose from available seats.
2. Inox:Not well spread in North India. Mainly present in Maharashtra and nearby states. Inox has cinemas at Bangalore, Chennai, Faridabad, Goa, Indore, Kota, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Raipur, Vadodara, Vijayawada and Kolkatta. It also let you select seats while buying tickets online. Printout works as ticket.
3. Adlabs:Initiative backed by Anil Ambani has cinamas well spread in all regions of country except eastern side of India (only Kolkatta). Adlabs also has its Mobile application developed for selected set of phones. You can book your movie tickets on the move using this Mobile application. Know more about it
4. Fun Cinemas: Cities covered by this cinema chain are Agra, Ahmedabad, Ambala, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Goa, Guwahati , Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Panipat. You can buy your snacks online and it will be delivered on your seat 
5. Wave Cinemas:Only located at Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad Ticket bookings are done by www.bookmyshow.com
6. DT Cinemas: Only located in Chandigarh and Gurgaon. Ticket bookings are done by www.bookmyshow.com
7. Satyam Cineplexes: Only present in Delhi, 3 locations Patel Nagar, Janak Place and Nehru Place.
8. JAM – Just about Movies Shipra Mall, Indirapuram: This is not cinema chain but very near to new sectors of Noida and East Delhi. Online booking generally secures your seats at very good location (well distant from screen and corner seats).
9. Fame Cinemas: This belongs to western part of India as cinemas are located at Pune, Mumbai, Surat, Aurangabad and some are in main cities like Kolkatta and Bangalore.

For movie ticket booking in kerala just go to http://www.go4cinema.com you can book movies at kochi, perinthalmanna, trivandrum, kozhikode.

This site is good for ticket booking .But i want to give a suggestion. I am in Ludhiana.if i want to book my ticket in ludhiana waves.than how can i book my ticket. because your system is not showing waves location in ludhiana.
