Testing your website on multiple browsers

I think it is a good idea to test your website on multiple browsers. Different people has different choices for Web browser and it can affect your website traffic if it is not coming up well or not working well on one of the popular browsers. In recent past, many new browsers made their debut and also impressed many web users. Browsers like IE lost major percentage of its users to comparatively new browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome and Opera.

Testing on different browsers is essential because of their different implementation of web standards(HTML, CSS and Javascript) which make your web pages behave differently on it. The best way of testing on different browsers is actually installing each one of them and testing your web pages on it, but practically it is not possible to test each and every browser on different OS environments.

I came across some of the tools which solve this problem upto some extent.

1. Browser Shots: This web site lets you view your web site on different version of different browsers on different platforms. You can choose on which version/browser/platform you want to verify your website.

Once you submit URL of your website, it will take some time to generate screen shots for all browsers and then you can view them all on same screen.

2. Adobe Browser Lab: Recently launched and i guess, as of now experiencing lot of traffic because not allowing new users to use this service.

Use these services to make sure your website is working on all popular browsers.
